Stylistic choices in musical expression and phrasing are taught by incorporating music theory, music history, and ear-training skills into lessons. I am a flutist and music teacher who recently moved to western Washington. I leads masterclasses, adjudicates competitions and auditions, and perform throughout the community, and have played Flute and Piccolo with the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra since 2019. I earned my Master of Music degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor of Music at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Although working through the books and going onto the next level is the goal, I find it imperative ensure that the techniques are being fully utilized along the way. If my student has a more "just for fun" attitude, the lesson will inevitably be a more light hearted feel.
