For beginning students who are children, I start with Rubank's Elementary Method book.  This will provide the student with the basic fundementals.  I will then introduce the student to a variety of solo repertoire for his or her instrument. While in the AF, though, I've been blessed to have several part-time college teaching jobs. I taught saxophone, sax quartet and clarinet for five years at Adams State University in Colorado. For five of my six years in Illinois, I taught saxophone and sax quartet at McKendree University. I've always maintained a private studio of students ranging in age from 8 to 80+. I am a passionate flutist and both of my parents played flute so I have played for any years . I am retired librarian and teacher and have taught in public schools. As I have taken lessons from several teachers, I have a brod musical background inclassical, jazz, and Latin music.
