I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. The material that my students work on is based entirely on their current strengths with a progression that allows for growth and a sense of accomplishment at my student's pace. Whether you are a complete novice or have a few years of experience, the training I can provide you will help you climb your individual mountain and achieve the success you are looking for. The repertoire is selected based on my students level of ability as well as musical preference, focusing on the necessary skills needed at each step to be successful. Read More
Instruments: Guitar
My teaching style is focused on getting a well-rounded education of music and guitar playing while still maintaining a fun and relaxing atmosphere. I like to have a balanced blend of sound (pun intended) technical guitar study with the fun of playing tunes and jamming. I bring to the table an in-depth journey to the realms of music theory while also staying loose and not get too bogged down with academic material. Read More

After receiving an Arts Leadership certificate from Eastman in addition to my BM, I am a huge advocate for music in society and believe it is a universal language that anyone should have access to, no matter age, ability, etc. I want my students to feel empowered and believe that they have a place in the world of music, because there is room for everyone! I encourage them to find their voice and use the confidence they develop through singing to forward themselves in other endeavors, musical or otherwise. Read More

I believe music should be a lot of fun. There should never be anything scary about learning something new to become a better person. I try to guide people through their musical journey as pleasantly as I can. That being said, hard work and perseverance are essential qualities for a beginning musician. Simply put, the more you put in, the more you'll get. I look forward to working with you. Read More

I played many solo performances, joined wind ensemble, played in the All-State band each year and went to the National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana. Toward the end of High School, I grew a new taste for guitar and silently practiced it behind my saxophone, in college, until I was good enough to perform with it. Now I've played shows all around upstate New York as a lead guitarist in several bands and released an album with my primary band, Baker Street. Read More

I believe that the overarching goal of music is not to become "successful" or to become a virtuoso, but to bring joy into your own life. This is why I create a unique curriculum for each student that is designed to meet their wants and needs as musicians. For example: if the goal of a student is to become a guitarist in a performing band that creates original music, I will emphasize song writing, improvisation, and ear training that is required to become that type of musician.
