I'm a motivated and passionate teacher who loves to work with students, sharing my love for all kinds of music. I started playing piano when I was seven, and have regularly studied music under the tutelage of several wonderful and knowledgeable teachers ever since, and I continue taking private guitar lessons even today. I received a Bachelor of Music degree in Commercial Music from Belmont University in 2017. Playing with a wide variety of ensembles in a wide variety of styles, including rock/metal outfits, pop acts, country bands, jazz and fusion groups, and classical guitar duos and trios, has definitely been one of the defining aspects of my life-long music education. My teaching philosophy is "exploration as a road to mastery." I help students build a repertoire they can perform. This tends to be a combination of songs they know and love, and songs that I introduce them to. I introduce the elements of music theory in relation to songs. Scales, harmony, and ear training are grasped better, and enjoyed more, once a student has context.
