I tailor my approach based on the student's prior experiences. For beginners, I employ effective and renowned methods used at Berklee College of Music, such as the "Berklee Guitar Theory", "A Modern Method for Guitar", "Fundamentals of Guitar", among others. Once the student has established a strong foundation and technique on their instrument, we dive right into Berklee's proficiency exams. On guitar I use the Hal Leonard method and then move into learning blues scales and pentatonic scales for soloing and then move into repertoire they are interested in. On drums, I will teach them rudiments to use when playing as well as play different drum charts to songs they enjoy. With voice, I will go through standard warm-ups and then find repertoire that the students are generally interested in whether it is classical, jazz, musical theater, etc. Read More

I teach both voice and guitar. As an instructor of voice I start with Breathing exercises, posture, and ear training. I take methods from "The Singing Book" by Maribeth Dayme Cynthia Vaughn. With children, I gage how well their grasping the fundamentals before learning songs. Once we've gotten their we move forward to learning about different techniques.
