I have had a desire to play and perform music since I was six years old. This interest was sparked by the wonderfully scored film: Tarzan (Disney). The African percussion that Phil Collins incorporated into this movie's score was enough to send me on the path to fulfill a college-level education in music. Initially beginning with percussion, I have expanded my horizons to piano, guitar, and after a degree in music education: every well-known band and orchestra instrument (with the exception of the harp). I played many solo performances, joined wind ensemble, played in the All-State band each year and went to the National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana. Toward the end of High School, I grew a new taste for guitar and silently practiced it behind my saxophone, in college, until I was good enough to perform with it. Now I've played shows all around upstate New York as a lead guitarist in several bands and released an album with my primary band, Baker Street. Read More

While teaching, I create a very friendly and welcome environment. Comfort between the student and teacher is critical in order to progress with technique and repertoire. I open the floor to questions, concerns and truly want to hear what the students perspectives are. With beginner students, the primary focus is on breath management, developing flexibility between ranges, and applying technique to repertoire. For more advanced singers, I am able to help prepare for auditions or performances and focus more on the quality and control of the voice. Read More

Music for me has always been a potent and even spiritual form of expression and communication. I try to share my passion with the students I instruct. After picking up my first guitar in the year 2001, I knew I had found my life path. I learned early on to integrate theory and jazz concepts into what I was playing - namely psychedelic/progressive rock, jam music, and funk. It is also worth noting that I have experience playing cello and upright bass in orchestras during my high school years. Read More

I started teaching fifteen years ago when I was getting my Music Education degree in Buffalo. Even though I was training to become a choir director (which I still love doing!) I found teaching one-on-one lessons and building connections was my true calling as a music educator. Since then, I have taught lessons privately in students' homes and online. In addition to my private studio, I have been a collegiate music educator training professional musicians. Read More

Yes for teaching piano I use Nancy and Randall Faber's books. I have used all of them. For guitar and mandolin I generally do not use a "book". As the lessons progress I might introduce a book if that is what is called for. All orchestral instruments call for the structure of a book and I augment that with my own explanations. This is true for all ages of learners. Read More
