I have a very fun yet effective teaching style. I try to help students reach their personal goals on the instrument. I also like to recognize each achievement no matter how small to show my students how their practicing and hard work has paid off. I want each student to progress at their own pace and mostly to show them what the world of music has to offer. Read More

My teaching experiences started when I was in college, a fellow classmate of mine needed help with some of her younger students and the world of music education opened up to me from there. I have been teaching steadily now for 7 years, working with students from ages 5-55. I have taught group and private lessons in music studios, students' homes, or my own home studio. Students I have come across in time have come with a multitude of personality types, learning patterns and physical challenges. Read More

I create custom lesson plans depending on each student's musical background, stylistic preference, as well as age. For children I usually like to teach out of Hal Leonard's Guitar Method 1 and occasionally include songs they like/know as a reward for good work. For adults, it varies depending on their experience level and interests. When I teach, I try to teach not only how to physically play certain parts, but also how to think about music-- how the guitar player arrived playing that, why it works, and how to adopt similar things into one's own playing. My interest in guitar started in 2000 when I was in the fourth grade. I can still remember that day in music class when the teacher was showing us different kinds of instruments. Holding the guitar somehow felt right and interesting to me. I started taking guitar lessons, but within a couple of years of that, I was starting to find that I didnt really need the lessons to learn how to play songs because I was picking them up on my own. I've primarily had private guitar students in the past, truthfully nobody has ever been consistent. They were all generally beginners but were at various stages. I hope they're still out they're playing guitar! Prior to becoming a full time musician I taught music lessons with the Boys and Girls Club of Austin, from October 2012- Jan 2014. After this I left my position to tour heavily. Most of the "teaching" I do these days is more like "trading" licks with other guitarists, or teaching freebie licks to beginners in jam situations. I’m a Texas native, from San Antonio! I found music when I was about 11 years old, and I was completely obsessed with Bob Dylan and Bob Marley! Because I couldn’t afford lessons, I learned as much theory as I could online. After playing in some bands in high school, I applied for the music program at Trinity University! I received my BA in Music in 2018, and now, for the past two years I’ve been giving lessons to people of all ages, with a focus in music theory and audio production! Read More
