I love sharing music. It is probably our greatest gift as human beings, and the most fun activity. I run my own music camp and love nature. I have performed in jazz, folk, rock and original music bands as a first call session player and arranger. I also lead my own original music bands. I graduated Berklee undergrad in 2005 and have taught all levels and ages since then. For younger students I like to start at the beginning; how to properly hold the instrument, how to tune the instrument, the layout of the fretboard (scales), a healthy repertoire of level appropriate music, etc. As students advance, however, I will introduce Theoretical concepts (Ear Training, Harmony, Modes, etc.) and a more detailed repertoire of music that the student is fervent about learning. Because I have gained so much in terms of amazing experiences from playing, writing, recording and performing music, I want to pass that passion on to those who are interested in learning music, and an instrument, themselves. I am very plan-oriented, knowing that students learn differently and progress at their own pace. In following the structure of a plan for learning, I build in some opportunities for students to experiment with what has been learned, in a way that other students have found to be fun, so that a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of the instrument, and musical structure, are gained by the student.
