As mentioned above, I like to begin with basic theory. Once the student has grasped the basic concept of half and full steps, major and minor note, flats and sharps, we can start practicing some tunes. In the beginning I try to incorporate 10 minutes at the beginning of every lesson, as well as some key finger exercises. Parallel to the theory and exercises, we will begin with the major chord finger positions, and then progress to minors, etc.. Read More

I started performing as tenor first when I was 12 years old with the First Baptist Church of Managua City, which they made two annual concerts on the National Theater per year that first would involve performing Classical Music choir performances and the second performance would be dedicated for Christmas, this under the direction of the Jorge Bojorge, who was the director the National Conservatory of Music UPOLI, back then. Welcome New Students! My name is Ivan and I love music. I believe I was meant to serve others through music. I was fortunate to graduate with honors from Berklee College of Music. I've performed in multiple stages in North America with both established and indie artists. My all time instrument has been the drumset but in the last 5 or so years have worked on learning and mastering guitar. I've recorded both at commercial recording studios as well as at my own home recording studio. Read More

My first year as a guitar teacher was back in 2003. Even though I was relatively young to teach, I had my own students coming in my newly created studio in Athens and I was sharing my enthusiasm with them as I was watching them being developed into experienced guitarists. I always loved Rock and Blues and, even though I received many lessons from amazing Jazz guitarists, I couldn't help but focus on these two styles. Read More

Music in the school system is taught backwards. If you're a beginner, you were put in a beginning class. this makes it very difficult for students to advance quickly because they aren't playing music with people who are more advanced than them. I make sure the students have the ability to play the instrument before they learn a ton of theory, because knowing how the wrritten form of music work without being able to play them is recipe for frustration. i always love to see my students reach a goals on the lessons and i don't believe in "i can't do it", if you can dream it, you can see it, and if you can see it you can do it!. i always believe that the everybody can play an instrument if you say that is not for you, that is just a sign that you just need more practice that other people , i already teach a kid to play violin and also a grandma to sing and play guitar at the same time i think everything is posible you jus need practice over and over again until you make it.
