As the student progresses with either instrument, I try to encourage them to continue with scales and to move up in their playing abilities and music reading. I have played in many different types of ensembles including marching, concert, pep bands, orchestras, pit orchestras, percussion ensembles, drum corps, rock, heavy metal, and country bands, as well as steel drum bands.
