I am a diverse musician of stringed instruments, specializing in electric and acoustic guitar, violin/fiddle, and mandolin. My genres range from Classical music, classic rock, to Bluegrass, Country, and Blues. On the guitar, I play and teach both flatpick and fingerpicking styles. In classic rock, I teach such recording artists as the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton (Cream), and Neil Young. On the Rolling Stones songs, I teach both standard tuning songs (Ruby Tuesday, Dead Flowers, etc), and open Tunings used by Keith Richards (Brown Sugar-G, Gimme Shelter-E) On the violin/fiddle, and mandolin, I teach, nice baroque pieces like Minuet # 3 in G Mjor (Bach/petzold), Rights of Man (E minor) and later 19th century (Off to California aka Passage in G Major), as well as later classical pieces like Beethoven's 9th Symphony (Ode to Joy). For students who are young children, I typically start by addressing the importance of playing what you hear. So, I will teach them beginner classics, such as Twinkle Twinkle and Merry had a Littl eLamb, but I also teach them what thunder sounds like, or a siren, and etc. by drawing on everyday life obejects that create noise. I then move on to learn my student's interests to device a method of positive reinforcement if they complete their homework asssignments or answer questions correctly, usually in the past this has been candy. My teaching experience dates back to college. I began teaching private lessons part time about 12 years ago and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 7 years. Routine and regular practice are a great combination to build muscle memory and an instinctual feel for music as well as a connection and passion to your instrument. I began offering private string lessons in College during summers in Florida. I taught private string lessons. Further into my education I took internships in music therapy working with many different populations. I gave therapeutic music lessons to patients in hospitals like Massachusetts General Hospital, Worcester Recovery Center and McLean Hospital. There I ventured into teaching guitar and voice. At Berklee College of Music, I worked with young children during our city's Beantown Jazz fest to help introduce them to new instruments. Read More

At Five years old, I began learning the piano. I learned to read music and play reasonably well. Then, baseball came along. As I entered high school, I learned the guitar, starting with a Silvertone guitar with the small accompanying amplifier. I had sung in the church choir, so my Boy Scout friends then became my band mates during the 60's In the 70's, I went on the road with a talented rock band opening for large acts including the Allman Brothers Band and The Who.
