I became the guitar studies director at the Bronx House Music School (during this period) and later became the Music School Director there, and the Music Director of the Mercy College Satellite branch (which offered college level music lessons and classes at the Bronx House Music School). While pursuing my Graduate Studies at MSM, I was a Special Tutor for both entrance and exit exams (history and theory) for the Doctoral Program; and taught guitar history literature, guitar ensemble, and guitar pedagogy (as a graduate assistant). (I also was employed there as editor-in-chief of the college newspaper, and thesis proof-reader editor for DMA theses (generally for foreign studentsalthough my skills therein were also sought by students at Juilliard, NYU, Union Theological Seminary, and Jewish Theological Seminary.) Since graduation, and while (primarily) pursuing my concert career, I have been Director of Guitar Studies (Cumberland College); Read More

I so enjoy when a student is passionate about music and learning their instrument. I try very hard to make learning their instrument fun. Yes I do let them know that Practice Makes Perfect but at the same time I let them know that I do understand that sometimes life gets busy. We will continue to learn, enjoy, and laugh as much as we can during lessons and stress practice but be compassionate to their situations . Read More

I first started teaching group lessons at a yoga studio where I was employed in the Spring of 2018. The popularity of those lessons was limited, but I found when I had students I enjoyed engaging with them one on one and discussing my craft. I quit my job at the yoga studio and committed my time to marketing myself as a guitar teacher instead. Since then I have been teaching lessons out of my South Philadelphia home and practice studio as well as online to students of all ages, generally beginners, but also occasionally more experienced players. My methods are in service of the cultivation of interest. Mainly I want the student to focus on learning how to play the music they want to play. The key to cultivating interest is to nurture the social, communicative and fun elements of playing music; associating the laughter and exhilaration with learning. I'm a self taught musician - I know that music is intuitive enough to learn without getting overly text-book about it, and I think focusing too much on the book at an early age can turn away potential musicians. My teaching experience is varied and puts the student's needs first. I have taught privately for the last 7 or 8 years, and can proudly say that every one of my students has learned a great deal. Providing consistent support and a positive attitude is my goal for every lesson, and I take the concerns of each student with the utmost sincerity. Having taught in both private and group environments, I have developed an ability to quickly convey important information in a way that every student will comprehend. Read More

I am a laid back instructor that knows when the setting is right to encourage the student by leading them in the right direction to achieve their specific and unique goals. Each student is different and what works for one will not always work for another. By reminding the beginning student that we are all human and even the best musicians have started as complete amateurs, they can feel more comfortable making mistakes freely, that are bound to happen without feeling self-conscious.
