My teaching experience dates back to the 1980's where I have taught Music Classes involving singing of worship music in religious elementary schools as well as teaching music theory, and music history. I was also a preschool teacher and taught preschool music enrichment classes. After school hours I enjoy teaching in my own home music studio, but due to pandemic have now switched to online music lessons. My most important takeaway is that I want my students to leave a lesson feeling motivated. I had entirely way too many teachers that failed to instill a sense of passion about guitar. Lessons would feel more like work than fun, and once I'd get home, I'd have the most difficult time finding the energy or the drive to practice, and instead, would rather jam with friends and play music that I wanted to hear. As students understanding of the fret board develops I try to move these concepts into other position by highlighting relativity and connecting chord shapes as they're highlighted in different scale patterns.
