I'm a performing bassist and music educator with a strong background in jazz and classical music. I love to share my love of music with students and help them discover their own unique path. In 2022, I graduated from the Berklee College of Music with a degree in Performance after receiving the Jimmy Lyons full tuition scholarship. Learning to read, write, and play music is essentially learning another language and having taught languages for several years, I know people move at different paces. I always enjoy seeing my students develop a passion for music! I don't use a standard book system since my lessons are geared around the individual students musical taste. I set realistic goals and always make sure I am not overwhelming the student with work or information. During a lesson I frequent stop to make sure their understanding the information i am giving them. I am flexible with my schedule, and it's pretty easy to reschedule a lesson with me if need be. It takes time for a beginner's fingers to get used to playing a fretted instrument, so getting comfortable is key. I will also start with the basics of reading music. During my time at The Berklee College of Music I took classes in pedagogy, and every teacher I have had the pleasure of studying with has functioned as an invaluable model for how to teach, and the many different ways to articulate and illuminate the nuances of playing the guitar, and playing music. For all my students, my lessons focus on three key areas of playing: technique, fluency, and repertoire. Technique includes warmup exercises, chord vocabulary, and scales among other areas. Fluency includes some form of reading music and is catered to the goals of the student.
