I always try to make our lessons less like a lecture and more like a jam session. When analyzing a piece of music, I strive to relay the importance of knowing exactly what you're playing. Through this, the student gains a deeper appreciate for the piece and music in general, as opposed to just cycling through a chord progression. Most lessons consist of 1/3 technique and scales, and 2/3 repertoire. I always make sure to ask the students about what they like to listen to most because that will dictate which songs we learn during our lessons to make it more fun and relatable for them. Read More

Born and raised in Paris, France I speak French, English , German and Italian fluently. From a musical family I began learning the guitar at age 6 and the cello at nine. I have had a passion for music from a very young age and would love to share this passion with new students. At 16 I shifted my professional focus onto acting and most recently graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Midtown Manhattan. Read More

For music sight-reading on the guitar, for students of all styles (except Classical-exclusive), with my youngest students up through high school I use Mel Bay's "Modern Guitar Method Grade 1" & optionally Grade 2 (depending on the direction and progress of the student) before moving onto Hal Leonard's Musicians Institute "Music Reading For Guitar" book. For adult students not studying Classical or Jazz, I make sight-reading of music optional, but I still make music theory mandatory for the student in order to provide a broad understanding of the music they learn, as well as provide knowledge on how to improvise their own guitar solos. I like to make my lessons engaging and fun. For students who are beginning their guitar journey, I like to start with the basic fundamentals of guitar, such as teaching them the body of the guitar (head stock, tuning pegs, string names, frets, how to hold and use a pick, etc.). We then will go on to learning how to position their fingers on the guitar neck and frets to play notes, learn chords and eventually, once they are ready, we will start working on age appropriate songs for the students to learn. Through understanding the fundamentals of music and the fundamentals of bass technique, you can literally play anything. The music that has inspired you becomes less of a mystery and once it's in your hands, you've got it forever! I have fun playing music and love to share my enthusiasm. We'll have fun! Throughout my career, i've taught privately, as students will approach me at a performance or another way. I have also given masterclasses on occasion in conjunction with tours or performances. My experience as a music teacher started in High School, where I taught guitar in both English and Spanish to younger students from my school. Through that experience, I began to enjoy seeing students progress, develop a passion for the instrument, and in-part, become inspired by taking my lessons. In college, I had extensive experience as a tutor to peers and leading big groups of musicians. I am now exclusively a private music and instrument teacher in NYC after spending some years as a school music teacher. Read More

More than a decade ago I began giving music lessons in both private and group formats. It was an unexpected "diversion," but a very natural fit! It brings me great joy to see a student enjoying the guitar, advancing on the instrument, and entering into that "fellowship of guitarists," which means everything from jamming with their friends, to being able to learn any song they want, to understanding a meme about the G string always going out of tune.
