I'm a guitarist with 6 years of education and 3-4 years of performance experience. I have performed at several venues and am currently studying for my bachelor of music performance at the renowned Musicians Institute in Hollywood. I am mainly a hard rock and metal dude but also have a deep passion for classical and blues. I also have experience with songwriting and lyric writing and have written songs for other people in various styles such as rock, metal, pop, and singer songwriter just to list a few. Read More

I first began teaching private lessons on my summer breaks from college back in 2013. What began as a way to make side money quickly grew into a passion for sharing my knowledge with others. The look on a students face when I see a concept "click" in their brain has become a driving force for me, and keeps me passionate about spreading musical ideas to those who truly want to learn. Regarding the actual playing, I emphasize playing slow and steady while keeping the flow of the music, even when it may be tempting to play an easier phrase faster while stopping to play a harder one. I find that progress is fastest playing with that patience in mind, getting a great feel for the music. Also, it's essential to come up with a unique practice plan for the student, accommodating their weekly schedule to find a consistent amount of practice time at their own pace. Read More

I like to mix instructional books with opportunities to learn songs outside of the text books appropriate to the student's interests, style, and skill level. For the guitar, I like Terry Carter's Rock Like the Pros, Beginning Class Guitar Method and Intermediate Class Guitar Method. These books have comprehensive practice exercises, including classical and popular music exercises, and great songs of all levels to learn. The Mel Bay and Alfred music method books are also great for guitar or drums. Read More

I believe music is about expression and it is rewarding to find a way to help students to develop their own style. Therefore, it is important to know the student's needs and wants in order to establish a lesson plan. After reaching this first step it is easy to create some goals for each lesson. When the student feels that his needs and wants are fulfilled in the lessons, s/he gets more confident to work on new challenges. Read More

My teaching style is generally laid back. I believe that a student will only work as hard as they want to, and I have little control over that. I focus more on finding out what will make the student want to work hard, rather than forcing them to study something that does not interest them. It's all about getting the student to have a positive musical experience. That being said, I do my best to hold my students accountable, but try to do so in an encouraging way vs. a nagging and controlling way. Read More

I've been teaching for over 10 years full time. But I've been involved with teaching and leading musical groups and bands for nearly 25 years. I have thought kids from 3 years of age to teens to young adults to elders over 80 years old. I have over ten years of experience teaching in the private sector as a music instructor. I have plenty of experience working one-on-one with students with zero musical knowledge to prodigies. Read More
