For stringed instruments, I uses the Suzuki method for teaching the basic repertory of the instruments. This method is an ear training method in which the student plays by ear. It starts out very simple so students of all ages can learn and progress very quickly. I have been surrounded by music's influence my whole life, being that my father was a guitarist, my grandmother a classical singer, and my great uncles were conductors and cellists in orchestras. My initial influences were rock, hard rock and heavy metal, being exposed to and enamored with blues and jazz. I try to get to know the students as best as I can. I will ask them about their interests in music and outside of music. I also will learn what their weaknesses and strengths are and push them to improve all around. I have a pretty laid back style of teaching. My goal to encourage them, rather than make them feel bad or frustrated. I will simply tell them if they are sounding good, or I will tell them what they can do to sound better. Read More

I use my own lesson plan. I'll start with Hal Leonard for young students, and hanon's virtuoso pianist for more advanced students. I'll use theory lessons mixed with what the student actually enjoys, because it's hard to learn what you're not interested in. I'm flexible and will adapt to the student's needs. I try to find what motivates the student to play, and guide them accordingly.
