For beginning students I usually start with basic chord formation to get them into playing songs as soon as possible so they dont get bored with the basics. Then I move onto movable chords, scales, and music theory. Once they get to more advanced techniques I will give them simple exercises and the songs they choose to learn will put them into context. More recently, I have picked up teaching again and currently work with local students in the Piedmont Triad area. For classical guitar students I use Aaron Shearer's Learning the Classic Guitar Volume 2.
