For beginner students, I start with the fundamentals of music and we work our way up to integrating repertoire that they will eventually be able to perform in recitals and shows! I am a very flexible teacher and I understand firsthand that to remain interested in learning music, a student needs to feel included in the choices regarding what they are working on. With that in mind, I like to use both repertoire that a student has brought in, and repertoire that I choose very carefully to suit a particular student's strengths and challenges. Read More

I will be empathetic and understanding and make sure to acknowledge accomplishments throughout my time with my student to encourage them, and have them feel good and acknowledge their hard work, skills, and improvement. For beginning students, I usually begin by playing with them so they feel comfortable first. This is the most important aspect of the lesson since one-on-one time can be intimidating unless each person is familiar with one another and each other's playing style. I often try and get a feel for what type of music they're into. This helps guide the lesson material in a way that moves smoothly and helps them excel while having fun. Read More

My teaching style is very Freddie Gruber, if you don't know who that is I recommend you look him up on youtube! I believe in motion. In understanding the motions your body has to make and repeating them like an athlete to get the same sound on the drum every time you hit a drum. In sitting down to play and not be nervous you will mess up, but love the fact that you will mess up and it's okay and part of this process. Read More

We start each lesson with proper breathing technique, the cornerstone of all vocals. We then move on to various vocal exercises to help condition the voice. Then we will work on the songs that interest you and that you are eager to sing! I will use a piano for warm ups and conditioning exercises.
