My teaching experience dates back to my high school years. My piano instructor at the time appreciated my gifts and allowed me to assist with teaching beginner students. I continued to teach throughout my college years and still enjoy teaching today. I encourage regular practice and a consistent schedule. I find that consistency helps with progress and with the development of a passion for making music. I base my every teaching style according to what the individual student needs . Teaching a class of 60 students is much different than a one on one class. No two people are the same and so they should not be taught the same exact way. For ex. I teach the basics using a combination of methods, customizing lessons to each student's skill level, ability level, and interest (classical/folk/modern). For beginning students I suggest using the Suzuki Method, or Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once each student is ready to move beyond the fundamentals, I find exercises and solos to best fit and improve their skill level for recital performances, competitions, strings class/orchestra, or other activities.
