I savor every opportunity to bring my passion for playing guitar to each teaching session. My aim is always to develop each student's strengths and weaknesses in playing; developing their knowledge of the instrument and music; develping their creativity in approaching different types of musical expression; thereby, increasing their love of the instrument and music. I approach teaching with an emphasis on developing a student's ear for music, carefully balanced with learning practical, rudimentary knowledge and musical theory for effective, well-rounded musical development. For beginning students, I use the first Essential Element book to introduce the first instrument and theory concepts. Once students have progressed past this book, I use the Tune a Day series along with the accompanying scale book. This book introduces students to solo and duet pieces worthy of a recital performance. Once they have reached the third book and are progressing through etudes, students begin working on individual solo repertoire pieces. Read More

I believe in individualized learning. So each student will receive their own plan for their progression. Some materials I recommend for students are the rubank book for beginner. It is very important for students to grasp the fundamentals. For intermediate students, we would progress on a track and focus on what they had for goals. For advanced students we could use anything from method books to cds to ear training and transposition to bring out the best in the learner. Read More

I have been working out of my record studio since 2013 but I have been recording since 2004. I have also served as the assistant band director at midfield high. Giving rudimentary lessons to the drummers and working on the theory and range with the upper brass was one of the many jobs that I was assigned to as assistant director. I have worked with middle school high school colleges and clients who just wanted to record or get better. Read More

I feel that it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals and assignments for my students at each lesson. This measurable progression of accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Of course finding out the students problem areas is also paramount to helping them progress at the fastest rate possible. I also believe that while our relationship is professional, I do take a personal interest in each of my students as some of the best teachers I have ever had, took a personal interest in me. Instruments: Piano
For beginning students, I like to start with some starting note learning drills on paper or going through some beginner books. I am a firm believer in that the more a student practices reading music, the easier it will come. I realize that some students learn music better by ear, and I will work to develop that skill alongside the essentials of reading the music on paper. As they progress, I hope to introduce different kinds of solo music in order to teach different skills and techniques that are involved, while still keeping the music fun and accomplishing the goals that the student wants to accomplish. Instruments: Piano
I began teaching private piano lessons when I was a junior in college. I taught all ages including children, teenagers, and adults. I encourage consistent and regular practicing with my students because that is how one succeeds at playing an instrument. I teach students based on their own individual development and pace, but I do push them so that they can improve and become better musicians. I always schedule a recital at the end of the semester and encourage students to perform in festivals and competitions so that they have opportunities to perform. Read More
