Instruments: Bass Guitar
I am an enthusiastic teacher who loves passing on my passion for music to my students. I started playing guitar at a young age and then picked up bass in gigging bands in Texas and Kansas City. I received my education at Ottawa University, where I was a part of the performing jazz program. After graduating I began teaching in Kansas City and had the opportunity to play around the country in and acoustic alternative band. Read More

When taking on beginner students, I typically use a blend of method books and novice musical pieces to begin to build musicianship. With intermediate musicians, I tend to seek out anything of interet to the student while incorporating harder repertoire to strengthen musicianship and to continue to peek interest in music. With adult musicians, I let them guide me to their area of interest, and I capitalize on that to guide them to better musicianship, no matter what their skill level may be. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I love working with students and helping them getting comfortable around music. I started playing piano since I was 6 years old and experienced different teachers, teaching methods, and musicians. I studied Music Education for the first two years at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, then decided to focus in Piano Pedagogy starting my junior year. Not only I have a music degree, I also have a experiences with teaching young children from working as a teacher in early childcare and Child Development Laboratory at University of Illinois. Many students beginning private lessons have already started playing the instrument, but still need to establish a firm foundation. When starting to take trumpet or brass instrument lessons each student will be starting at different levels along with progressing at a different pace. Lesson plans are customized to each student's skills and musical interests. My favorite part of playing music is playing with other people, because of this my lessons use a stong emphasis on duets. Instruments: Guitar Bass Guitar
I follow a fairly simple teaching philosophy: Work and Play! I like to divide my lesson time into two segments. The first segment will be strictly technical studies and exercies (eg. scales, drills, theory, etc..) related to the piece I'll be teaching in the second segment of the lesson. Read More

I first taught about 45 years ago when I was a teenager. Since then I have been helping people learn more about playing music on both a casual and professional basis. I strive to discover where the student is and what they want to accomplish. I also train students in Music Theory, reading and transcription because it is important that musicians are able to communicate with other players clearly. Music is vital to my life and I am grateful to those who helped me - I hope to have a positive impact on the folks who I get to work with. Read More
