I am a multifaceted musician with busy career as a conductor, arranger, pianist, and teaching artist. I call myself an artrepreneur. I founded my own orchestra called Ensemble 212 in New York and we have received critical acclaim for our innovative programming of works by living composers, exciting interpretations of the standard repertoire, and my own arrangements and transcriptions. I have also guest conducted numerous ensembles in Europe and North America and my arrangements and transcriptions have been performed throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America by leading orchestras such as the Baltimore, Phoenix and Singapore Symphony Orchestras. I don't have a singular method because every student is different. At the beginning of my lessons with a new student we will begin getting to know each other. Then we try different things. Some students are naturals at imitating what they hear, so we play to those strengths. Other students are more comfortable with structure and math, so we take that route instead. What I find most important is being flexible. Read More

As a teacher, it is very rewarding to see my student progress and see their love for music deepen. I like to help students develop at their own speed while guiding them in the right path. I like to help my students find their own voice and creativity in music. It is very important for me to inspire my students by learning who they are and what they are interested in. Read More

For beginners, I like to use the Music Theory books from the "Royal Conservatory" as well as the Piano Books from the Same publisher. It is very important for me to adapt the teaching style to the character and abilities of the students. It is also important to focus on the weaknesses of the students and try to improve those parts as well. I believe that challenging a student with works slightly beyond their technical abilities is also a good way to stimulate faster progress and better creative results. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone
For my beginning students, I start off with Hal Leonard's Absolute Beginners - Alto Saxophone method book to start them off with the basic fundamentals of reading music and playing the saxophone. For my more advanced students, I introduce fundamental saxophone techniques as well as solo repertoire. For adults, I encourage them to come up with a set of goals, and I set up each lesson so that we meet these goals. Read More

After several years of experience playing in jazz and conducting local workshops I moved to Milan in search of a more rich and diverse music environment and that's when the Latin Experience came. After playing for 8 years in the local Cuban Community with some of the best names of the genre I became an expert of all x22clavee' x22 rhythms and arrangements. In 2001, looking at broadening the scope of my experience I decided to move to New York, where I currently direct my own band, La Maquina Amarilla, which performs in the best venues in NY.
