Instruments: Flute Music
For beginning students who are children, I usually start with how to make a sound on the flute by practicing only the headjoint for the first week to help them develop the muscles in the lips and help to keep the aperture small. Once they feel confident with the headjoint, I would then teach them how to hold the flute properly and have a correct posture when playing. As soon as the student has progressed on these fundamentals, I will introduce them to the first notes on the flute which are typically B,A and G above the staff. Read More

Instruments: Trombone Euphonium Tuba
There are two essential parts to learning/improving you ability on an instrument; Instruction and Practice. I will provide instruction, but in order for the student to show improvement they need to practice. When learning any instrument or even for that matter, singing, developing muscle memory is the key. That requires repetition to get the brain to register the process. Also, I believe that it is fundamental to learning a musical instrument to perform/practice with a group, So I encourage my students to join in a school ensemble or community group. Read More
Instruments: Double Bass Music
I began teaching in my early college years dating back to 2010. I have since taught students ranging in all ages from 6 to adult. Not only have I had many double bass students, as that is my primary instrument, but I have also taught trombone, beginning violin, and music theory as well. I highly encourage my students to practice regularly, as consistency is the key to developing any new skill. Additionally, I encourage every student to learn at their own pace that suits them, because everyone will learn at their unique pace in technical and musical development. Read More
Instruments: Drums
Learning the drums should be a fun and rewarding experience! I believe that learning to play different styles, playing along with a metronome/song and being able to read music are essential for all drummers. I ask students what style of music/bands they like and incorporate this into lessons. I break the lessons down into 3 sections: The first is where we warm up and play rudiments and technique exercises. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Bass Guitar
I love sharing my knowledge with others. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a student acheive their musical goals. I like to keep my lessons fun and interesting. I try to create a fun but realistic experience to ensure that my student's interest is maintained while progress is achieved. I also welcome feedback from my students to cater to each individual's style and abilities. This helps me be more reflective and aware of each student's process. Read More
