Instruments: Flute Piccolo
I have been passionate about music and teaching from a very young age. I began playing the flute at age 10 and eagerly continued, participating in every musical opportunity I had in middle school, high school, and college. In 2010, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Susquehanna University with my Bachelors in Music degree in Music Education with a concentration in flute. Immediately after graduating, I took an orchestra director position in Charlotte, North Carolina where I have been teaching for the last five years. Read More

Ever since I was a child I had wanted to be a teacher. When I got to Central Piedmont Community College I focused on music education because I knew I wanted to teach music theory in college. After transferring to Wingate University I began studying choral music education because I was fascinated byhow the voice works and blends with other voices in a choir situation. I have had the opportunity to study rock bass, jazz bass, classical guitar, piano, and even private voice lessons from private lessons all the way up through college level lessons and these lessons have given me such a drive and passion for not only music, but music education. I am a motivated piano instructor. I enjoy teaching as well as learning what genre my student likes to play. I have been playing as a church musician since the age of 16. I had the opportunity to play for the adult and youth choirs. I am versatile in different genres however, I specialize in gospel music. My method of teaching is to learn scales in every key, as well as teaching the student to read music as well as ear training. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's importat that each student progresses at his/her own pace. I encorage them by setting realistic goals and by reinforcing the improtance of individual study practice. By trying out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. I mainly use Alfred and Hal Leonard books for teaching. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet Trombone Euphonium French Horn Tuba
Although my primary instrument is trumpet, I am adept at teaching all instruments within the brass family. For beginners, I don't even want to focus on music and notes as much as I like to emphasize the sound. If it doesn't sound good then whats the point of building on top of that and developing bad habits? I like to focus primarily on the fundamentals in the beginning because that only makes it easier as time goes on. Read More

Every one lewrns difrently but that all fall into 1 of 5 categories . while I am not allowed to fully disclose the details of my fathrrs methods. The first few sessions will be observation. Testing each category to see where the student's. Strong point are. After which I will be able to make lesson plans for them to follow even out side of the class. I am a firm believe in the concept you get out of it what you put into it. Read More

For beginning brass players, my favorite method for individual instruction in the "Breeze Easy" method, by John Kinyon. These books have fun and engaging entry-level pieces for students to play. Once students have gone through each book and developed certain fundamental skills, I will encourage them to move on to more advanced books such as the Arban's "Complete Method", and Robert Getchell's "2nd Book of Practical Studies". Arban's has a great combination of fundamental exercises such as scale studies and vocalizes, but also has entertaining solos and duets toward the back of the book. Read More
