For beginners, I usually start with the fundamentals of the guitars and it's anatomy. I split my lessons with theory and scales/studies, and then we switch to the students desired repertoire. I like to also add duets and songs or pieces in which me and the student play together, to strengthen the confidence to play with other players. This is done by setting realistic goals for each student at each lesson, keeping them inspired and interested in learning more. When you acknowledge students based on their accomplishments, it helps to fuel them a desire to progress and make them interested in learning more.
