Instruments: Voice
I am an intrepid, versatile mezzo-soprano whose life and vocal work go hand in hand. First and foremost a singer, I have dedicated myself to experimenting and refining my own voice and vocal potential. Born and raised in Connecticut, I began singing formally at the age of thirteen and followed that passion to my Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Western Connecticut State University, where I focused on classical art song and operatic aria. Instruments: Piano
My teaching experience begins during the second year of my undergrad at UCF. I began teaching privately students who ranged in ages from 4 to 65. Encouraging regular practice and incorporating parent involvement are the best ways I feel to keep a younger student on track. As well as tailoring a plan that fits each students needs. Encorporating a mixture of genres and allowing the student to feel that they can play the music they are interested in will help to fuel a passion for music in the student. Read More
Instruments: Flute Recorder Music
My first teaching experience was teaching group recorder lessons in my home town, since then I have taught all over the world in many different systems. I particularly love working with beginner flutists and helping them to find their voice on the flute and discover the joys of playing. If a student is young I often suggest starting on the recorder in order for them to develop their skills and prepare them for switching to the flute later. Read More
Instruments: Piano
This was all a lot of fun; I taught through P.E.P. for four years, and then through a special allowance continued to teach a large number of students for an additional year after graduation. After that, I went on to pursue my Master of Music at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, simultaneously receiving a teaching assistantship which enabled me to go to school for free and receive a modest salary in addition. Instruments: Guitar
I started playing the guitar at the age of 17, after seeing a few live concerts in New Haven (Blues Traveler, Allman Brothers Band, and Phish). I remember sitting and watching in amazement and was inspired to go out, purchase a guitar and attempt to learn some of this music. It was a struggle at first, but with some hard work, determination and willingness I was able to play a few songs fairly well. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I like to begin with getting a sense of where the student is in their musical development. Then, it's all about the basics! I address breathing, body alignment, relaxation/tension, and all of the aspects of singing through exercises tailor-made to address the student's individual and immediate needs. For most of my students, I will provide specific pieces that will help in their development and keep their interest. I have, on occasion, had students request to only work on technique through vocal exercises without singing an actual song. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone
After graduating from Temple University, in 2017 I performed at the North American Saxophone Alliance Conference at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA; the New England Saxophone Symposium at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; as well as a solo and chamber music recital at Smith College in Northampton, MA. The performance at Smith College included a premiere quartet piece entitled Women of the Wall dedicated to the Women of the Wall Non-profit Organization in Jerusalem. Read More
