We choose a book that suits the student, and there are weekly assignments from the book. 2- Theory work, usually focusing on the Blues form. I studied biochemistry until taking a semester to study violin with Barbara Gorzynska in Vienna, after which I found an interest in the processes of learning and authentic relationships to one's activity. I find that both these series introduce the concepts of technique, theory, solo playing, and terminology in ways that help them learn effectively.
