My approach to teaching anyone music is to present it as a unique language, one that anyone in the world can use to communicate with anyone. Therefore, my initial emphasis for each student is to help them master the flute in terms of technique and tone so that they can then concentrate on the style of music that they love. I began teaching private lessons in 2018 for double bass, electric bass, jazz theory, repertoire and improvisation. After graduating from Berklee I began teaching bass for the Hopkinton Music Association, a non-profit supporting music education in Hopkinton Public Schools. In 2023 I was hired as a music teacher for Note-worthy Experiences Music Studio and Karen Amlaw Music, where I taught bass, oboe, and English horn. One of the most important concepts I teach my students is the ONE MONTH RULE. Multiple studies show that it takes at least a month to establish a new habit or routine. How does this relate to music? I began teaching music when I was 18, I began teaching private drums and piano lessons in my home studio, I've been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 7 years. Upon graduation, I got my first music teacher position at Rishon Lezion conservatory, I taught private saxophone, flute, drums, and piano lessons as well as group music theory lessons and directed students ensembles. Building the voice - not just the performance to come - is an approach I have found to yield strong technique that can carry students far past any immediate need. Building range, teaching the function and physiology of the vocal anatomy (moreso as students age), and bringing students to understand their voice as an extension of their heart, mind, and body are all simple goals I have for each student.
