Once I started lessons on the upright bass, originally with the intention of only playing jazz, I soon fell in love with classical bass playing, and this became my primary focus during college. I make it a point to focus on ear-training and learning to play with their imagination so that students can learn to trust their ear and be a proactive musician rather than reactive. As far adults are concerned, I truly am more interested in what their goals are as far as learning to play the trombone. I have created a curriculum which is comprised of the Suzuki series for Violin, the String Builder Series by Samuel Applebaum and Introducing the Positions as well as Scale studies by Harvey S. Whistler. Music theory is taught using the Master Theory Series by Charles S.Peters and Paul Yoder. Additional Etudes that focus on Bowings, and Double Stops are taught to the more advanced student. I started teaching cello lessons 10 years ago in an after school program for 3rd and 4th graders. In this program, I taught music theory and group cello lessons for classes of 4-20 students. Around this time I also started teaching private cello lessons to students who wanted to move at a faster pace than group lessons. Since then I have taught many students of all ages and and levels.
