I'm a passionate instructor who loves to share my love of music and discover all the possibilities that a student can have with the instrument. I graduated from the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory with a bachelor in trombone performance. Working as a trombonist with the Navy band Southeast, I'm constantly performing in different ceremonies and teaching masterclasses around the Southeast area of the US, including Puerto Rico. For beginner piano students, I have two methods books that I use. For young children, I use the Bastion Piano Basics series. It is colorful, fun, and exciting for young learners. It is also very informative, so parents can help their young ones practice if they need the help! For beginning adult students, I use the Faber Adult Piano Adventures series, as this is more tailored to older students. It is less focused on colorful visuals, and uses language geared toward older learners. Read More

My first teaching experiences were with my father during solo and ensemble. Having hired me as an accompanist for his students, I found myself rehearsing these students moreso than accompanying them. From that point I felt encouraged to teach and help others perfect their craft. My biggest influences would have to be my past teachers, one of which taught me younger and the other as I matured. I believe that while learning to read and write sheet music, developing technique and feel, and understanding music theory are all important, the most integral part of learning an instrument - as fundamental as it sounds - is to use your ears! I believe it is important that beginning students who do not know how to read music yet stay out of the books at first. Reading music and trying to hold the instrument correctly, having bow control, and paying attention to tone can be overwhelming. The first few lessons will be book free. I began teaching five years ago with a diverse studio that covered everything from musical theatre to hip hop. I currently teach at a music studio here in Jacksonville, where I have a large studio of private students as well as group music classes for elementary and preschool aged children. I emphasize exploration and curiosity and encourage my students to explore multiple genres of music. Classical voice is my favorite thing to teach but I love when my students bring me new and exciting pieces of all kinds to work on. Read More
