After earning my violin performance degree I continued to travel around the United States and Japan, teaching violin everywhere i went. When i returned in 2015, I joined the Durham Symphony and started performing with various symphonies throughout North Carolina. Read More

I start with the end in mind. Once your student has established clear, realistic goals with me, all the focus is on reaching those goals. It is also made clear that it is the student's responsibility to come into each lesson showing clear evidence that they've practiced the music. I'm stern about this. If the student hasn't put in the time, I will send the student home mid-lesson and they lose that lesson. Read More

I was also invited to conduct the Southeast Missouri State University Chamber Orchestra in May of this year. Following the closure of the Phantom show in September of 2012, I relocated to my home state of North Carolina. I now travel between Winston-Salem and Knoxville (and the southeast region) where I freelance, teach, and conduct. Read More
Instruments: Drums Orchestral Percussion
My teaching experience goes back to the 12th grade, when I was the section leader of my high school marching band's percussion section. Although it was my first time ever teaching someone, I almost immediately developed a teaching strategy; I simply taught and guided that student exactly the way I would have wanted to be taught myself, with the uttemost care and attention to their individual needs as a percussion student, coupled with the tools to push them far past what they ever imagined they could achieve in music. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Guitar For Kids. For teenage and adult students I use Hal Leonard's Guitar Method Complete Edition. For classical guitar students I use Aaron Shearer's Learning the Classic Guitar Volume 2. After a student has a grasp over basic technique, chords, and reading I like to split the lesson between book work (note reading) and teaching students to play songs that they enjoy. Read More
