I have been teaching private voice since 1991.  Along with teaching privately out of my home, over the years I have served on faculty as an adjunct voice professor at the college and university level, and have taught private voice in school districts for their junior high and high school choirs.  My own children study with me and are performing regularly in musical theater productions and choirs.  I love helping singers discover their beautiful, God-given singing voice and watching it blossom as they consistently practice and apply the techniques. Saxophone/flute: Any beginning band method book or standard beginning to intermediate woodwind book. Appropriate repertoire. Piano: I use most beginning methods, including Alfred, Bastien, Piano Adventures (Faber), and other standard piano methods. For over 47 years I have played and instructed guitar. I began playing back in September of 1967 at the age of 10, on an inexpensive acoustic guitar purchased by my father from a pawn shop. I am self taught and learned to play by watching other guitarists, reading guitar instructional books, and listening to record albums. For most of my playing years I have also instructed students to play from beginner to advanced stages. Read More

I am familiar with many different series of method books (Faber, Bastien, Piano Town, Thompson, etc.), but will determine what the student needs based on their age and how much they know about music in general. Some school-aged children may have been exposed to music classes before they come to me. I am happy to hear about any school district that has chosen not to cut music education from its curriculum! Teaching Voice is 90% being a cheerleader and the other 10% technique. Voice is so mental because the instrument is apart of us. This fact is why I love teaching voice so much. I love cheering my students on to first find their natural talent, and then polish their talent with different technique and methods.
