Instruments: Piano Saxophone
At all ages, my lessons begin with a composition and theory-based approach. We spend time talking about music, form, and function to gain a greater understanding of the art. Musical concepts are often-repeated, so what is learned once can be applied again and again, and I use this to establish and build upon a solid foundation so that we can make reasonable strides toward the student's goals. In addition, my lessons are goal-focused, and I make sure that everything we learn builds toward a single goal. Read More

I have also taught students as part of the Community Outreach Program of the San Antonio Symphony and plan to continue being part of the community outreach program with the San Antonio Philharmonic. As a professional recorder player, I have performed as soloist with the Music of the Baroque Orchestra. Also, I played recorder in the "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" movie score with the San Antonio Symphony, Utah Symphony, and Alabama Symphony. Read More

Every student has a different learning style and learns at their own pace. I myself am a tactile kinesthetic learner and tend to teach this way. For example, I enjoy using colored pencils to highlight articulation and dynamics. If a student is younger, I use stickers to help students keep track of where they are in the piece. I tailor my instruction to what each of my students needs and want to learn. Read More
Instruments: Drums
I have had quite a few teaching experiences throughout the past few years. In high school I was a section leader for three years in the marching band, and helped a group of around 15 trumpets with music and marching fundamentals. In college I was a staff member in the Spirit of San Antonio marching band for one year. I helped out the trumpet section with marching music and with the visual aspects of marching. Read More

Music education is essential to lifelong development and enrichment in everyday life. That's why nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Read More

As mentioned previously my teaching style is collaborative. I love working with students to help them achieve their musical goals and it is incredibly rewarding to watch their individual progress along their musical journey. I like to encourage and challenge students to become the best player that they can. Supporting the students as they make their way towards their goal is a big part of what I do. Providing supplementary educational materials or extra time and attention is all part of the service!! Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Trumpet Euphonium Music Keyboard
I began teaching trumpet when I was a high school student. My students were middle school aged peers within my school district that needed additional guidance. While in college, I maintained two dozen or so students within my own private studio. Some of these students were non-music majors that were given to me by my own voice professor. My primary instrument is the human voice. A complicated yet versatile instrument that is unique in every person, and as such should be treated with specific pedagogical methods that best suit a student's age, skill level, and learning style.
