My teaching experience dates back to my high school days and has continued through the past twelve years. I love seeking to discover the unique learning pathway for every individual student and tailoring lessons specificially to grow and enhance foundations that other teachers have already built. I have a number of students who compose their own original material and encourage others in that capacity as well. Read More

I am a patient teacher and encourge students to work at their own pace. If we need to spend more time on a certain concept or technique than one lesson allows, we will. At the same time, I want my students to feel challenged in their lessons so that they will be willing to go home and put the work in during their practice time. Read More

I have performed in multiple professional ensembles and as a result specialize in orchestral and wind band studies and the technique someone would need to participate in them. Read More

What is it about music that has motivated them to study? Not everyone has the same goal or vision, which is a good thing. Even self-taught musicians incorporate theory and harmony into their compositions. My personal style toggles between when I was 14 learning Metallica songs to the present, having studied jazz and classical harmony. Read More

I use a variety of method books for drum set, mallet percussion, and snare drum, depending on the student's level and their area of interest. I also share exercises and approaches that I have picked up over the years from teachers and other sources, and I often create exercises on the spot to address the student's unique needs. One of the primary issues that I think is important to address is developing an efficient and effective practice method. Read More
