I am passionate a motivated while also being able to teach all levels of saxophone and clarinet. I have both a Bachelor of Music from the University of Oregon and a Master of Music from the University of Wyoming in Saxophone Performance. I have played both saxophone and clarinet for over twenty years. I have taught privately and in group lessons at the novice, intermediate and collegiate levels. Each student is at a different level, and therefore requires different teaching methods. I like to implement the Hanon exercises for scales and warm-ups, also focusing on things like scales and arpeggios. For the guitar, I like to incorporate these concepts with chordal exercises as well, such as playing progressions to let the student's fingers grow accustomed to their forms. As I gained reputation, I started teaching students privately and now have experience working with over 20 different kinds of middle and high school students. Since the age of 5 I've been playing the piano. I had my first recital at 5, at which I played Ode to Joy by Beethoven and I'm 45-years-old now and can still remember that. I have been in love with the piano my entire life and have been teaching piano to kids and adults since I went to college at 18. My teaching experience began roughly four years ago during one of my college summer breaks when I taught weekly private piano lessons to two children who were advanced-beginner students. In our lessons, the students learned various ways to develop their technique and prepared repertoire that they later performed at the end of the summer. I am versatile and passionate percussionist and drummer who has extensive experience with all percussion instruments and styles. I graduated from California State University Northridge with Bachelors and Masters degrees in percussion performance. I have toured to multiple locations in the United States in addition to performing in several amazing venues such as Chicago Symphony Hall, The Valley Performing Arts Center, and Royce Hall. I have also had the privilege of marching in the 2012 Rose Parade as a snare drummer in the Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Honor Band. Read More
