Instruments: Piano Violin
I started teaching private lessons at the age of 15. I am classically trained but do enjoy Celtic and fiddling music as well. I had the opportunity to voluntarily teach violin and cello at community center in 2017. I have also taught Suzuki group classes as well. I have received my Suzuki Teacher Training for Violin Books 1-6. I enjoy teaching all levels. Seeing others excel and progress is a great joy to me. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students' develop a passion for music. I like to let students develop at their own pace. Realistic goals are set, and we work to meet them with each lesson. I love tailoring instruction to students' needs! Read More
Instruments: Piano
I have been teaching piano for nearly ten years now. I know that every person is different and that there is not one right way to teach or to learn. I work to find things that work best for each student. I believe that reading music is a very important cornerstone in learning to play an instrument. Once we have achieved decent proficiency in it, I like to branch out beyond a basic method book into learning music chosen by my students because practicing is a lot more fun, and therefore more likely to happen regularly, if we're working on music that is fun as well as educational. My teaching style is dependent on the particular student. For all students, I work to not over assign pieces. There is so much to learn in music, it can be tempting to try to teach concepts too quickly. However, an organized, logical approach that introduces one concept at a time works best. The best music theory teacher I have had was organized and was able to stick to teaching one concept at a time, with sequential lessons building on the information from the previous lesson. Read More
Instruments: Piano Flute Piccolo
My methods would slightly vary on what goals the student is trying to achieve. However, all musicians must have a basic grasp of technique and fundamental skills in order to express music the way they would like to. Beginning with an overall assessment of technique is essential, and working to maintain and expand that level of proficiency is important for instrumentalists. After a routine has been established for warm ups and extension, I like to incorporate those skills into songs, pieces, or repertoire. Read More

I like to first assess what is the primary goal of the student and progress from there. Teaching methods that are too strict or too generic can often leave a lasting impression on a student (and not a good one!) Thus, I attempt to make all students feel comfortable and secure - with an understanding that mistakes are necessary to progress forward. Read More

I like for each of my students to move at their own pace, and if it takes you longer to learn something than it does your friends, so what? You both learned it, which is what's important. But if we try to move on before the student has adequately learned something, it'll just lead to discouragement and stress. You as the student want to stretch yourself, not snap in two. Read More
