The bulk of my teaching experience comes from my college days where I taught secondary piano lessons to college undergraduates and children. My teaching style and methods were solidified in my graduate studies at Indiana University where I was an Associate Instructor of Piano. Not only do I teach at the student's pace, I have each student construct their own goal calendar to keep in my records as well as the student's home. I like to call it a "music vision board" because to me there are no numerical deadlines on a student's musical progress. I like to find out what inspires a student in order to better my teaching. My approach to teaching is as individual as each student. It is important that each student learns at their own pace and in their learning style. It is my job to see what the student's best playing is and push them a little past it. I help my students set goals in their lessons, both broad goals of learning pieces, and specific parts of each piece for their weekly practice. Read More

Helping students achieve their specific goals is very important to me! If they are passionate about a particular style of music, composer, or piece, I will help them reach that goal! I am willing to meet them wherever they are musically.
