Instruments: Bass Guitar

For beginning students I like to focus attention on fundamental technique on both hands, making sure that they use the correct finger positioning on the bass. As they advance, the student will begin to know the whole fretboard through scales and arpeggios (in all keys) so the student knows where all the notes are in the instrument. For intermediate to advanced students I recommend books like "Connecting Chords with Linear Harmony" by Bert Ligon, "Fingerboard Harmony for Bass" by Gary Willis, "Funk Bass Fills" by Anthony Vitti, "The Latin Bass Book" by Oscar Stagnaro and "The Essential Jaco Pastorius" by Jaco Pastorius. Throughout my 4 year span of private guitar instruction, I studied blues and rock lead styles, which eventually paved the way to learning classical methods of guitar playing. After completing the teacher certification program and attaining an Associates degree at Palm Beach State, I worked for a plethora of after school enrichment programs that catered towards musicians. With a background of over 5 years of teaching music in private lesson and or group lesson formats in schools, homes, and summer camps. Read More

Since then I have been teaching Flute and Art privately out of my home. I am presently adding to my musical knowledge by studying piano and music theory and I am also taking courses to become Suzuki certified in Flute. I love to teach children and adults flute and/or art. I feel that it is so stimulating to communicate with people and watch them improve and grow. Teaching helps you to articulate what you know and reinforce your knowledge, which ultimately adds to a teacher's personal growth as a musician and artist. Read More

I believe that every human being is unique, and that uniqueness affects the way one learns. This is why I do not have a method that I use for each of my students. After I get to know my student, I am able to find out which method fits his/her needs in a more complete way. However, here is a short list of the books that I use for most of my students. Read More

I've had to privilege to study with some of the best coaches and teachers in the country, and I want to share with you what I've learned. My operatic and musical theater knowledge, both in theory and practice, is vast, and I want you to use me as a resource for whatever your personal goals may be. I've taught voice lessons privately and at Northwestern University, and I'm excited to provide the same services to the Miami Beach community. Read More

That says it all. For guitar for children , none can top "Alfred's Children Guitar book For Classical guitar I love the Charles Duncan's books "A modern approach to classical guitar" plus the repertoire books which are a gem and easy to approach. For technique for beginners there is the "Charles Ramirez" which is also pretty advanced in the end and a good introduction to both classical and flamenco. The advantage of Ramirez's book is that it is relatively brief but nonetheless thorough. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
