For very young beginning students, I typically start with Faber Piano Adventures, and for older beginners, the Faber Accelerated Piano Adventures or Hal Leonard Adult Learner Series. Once the student has shown an understanding of basic theory and technique, classical repertoire will be introduced, along with level appropriate arrangements of the student's choice music. It's important that the student is taught how to practice a piece effectively to continue growing musically in between lessons, so that lessons can be used to find areas for improvement, and to learn new concepts and material. I discovered my love for teaching in High School when my fellow students would always come to me for music help or coaching. In college I took our Vocal Pedegogy class and it was the perfect fit. I was so interested in the subject I asked my professors for more and we started the Coker College Community Program together. Soprano, Amanda W. is recently graduated from Bowling GreenState University with her Master's in Vocal Performance. For her undergrad, she attended Eastern Michigan University and received her Bachelor's in Vocal Performance. She attended the Utah Vocal Arts academy over the summer of 2017. For the summer of 2016, she was given a tuition scholarship by the American Institute of Musical Studies to study in Graz, Austria. During the years 2015-2016, she was a young artist with the Pittsfield Opera Theatre and sang with the Dixboro United Methodist Chancellor Choir. Read More

I began studying voice prior to college with world renowned teacher, Helen Boatwright in Syracuse, NY. This training was classical. Loving jazz, I started also to sing with Dianna Spradling at Syracuse University. Soon after, I decided to go to college for musical theatre at The Boston Conservatory where I continued my studies with Walter Boyce and Robert Honeysucker, both of whom used a more classical technique.
