Instruments: Flute
For all of my new students, I gauge where they are at in their musical development and start to create a plan for them. I assess their strengths first and then go right into areas that need work. I work a lot on fundamentals such as breathing, sound development, and comfortable hand position so that students can use their bodies most efficiently in their music making. I also insist on students learning to develop musical ideas right from the start so they realize that playing the flute is not only about blowing air and pushing buttons. Read More

I have been an active musician throughout my life. Music is both my passion and my job; I am eager to share music with other people! Whether singing, composing, or playing piano or organ, music opens artistic windows in a person's life. I hope you will consider exploring the world of music with me! My Bachelors focused on Organ and Voice, my Masters Degree focused on Composition and Church Music and my Doctoral program was in Conducting and Music History. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone
I am a mostly rock performing saxophonist based out of Bellevue, WA. I grew up and got most of my education in music here in Bellevue before attending, and subsequently graduating from, the George Washington University in 2018. Since then I have spent most of my time traveling up and down the east coast with the rock group Bencoolen. Although most of my formal training has been in jazz or classical music, this group has allowed me to vastly broaden my horizons and adapt certain tone qualities and other techniques to fit a more rock style. Instruments: Piano Saxophone Clarinet
I work with each student on a case to case basis, each student has different needs and approaches, all of which I try and accommodate. I encourage my students to practice at least an hour a day, this can be done in ten minute intervals or whatever amount of time the student can maintain focus. I would also love to hear about what my student is interested in and what I can do to help them become a more well rounded musician. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I'm cranky, strict, and impatient. Just Kidding! Contrary to many stereotypical views of old-style piano teachers, I try to stay upbeat, fresh, and FUN! I feel successful if my students are progressing, if they have fun, and I can motivate them. Read More
Instruments: Voice Music
I completed their rigorous course of study and became a Certified McClosky Voice Technician (CMVT) in 2017. Studying the McClosky Voice Technique opened up a whole new world for me and my skill with speaking and singing improved dramatically. I can guarantee you that I can help you correct any voice related frustrations you might have, for example Lack of endurance Trouble accessing your whole range with ease Breaks and other limiting issues Vocal fry Your voice giving out just when you need it to soar A weak voice or inability to project Repetitive hoarseness and strain Being hoarse after work Stage fright Limited flexibility Monotone speaking Needing to grab breaths too often Inability to speak or sing long phrases Trouble singing expressively Wabbles, bleats, breathiness, and other unpleasant sounds Its all fixable, but only if you are willing to slow down and become sensitive to how your body wants to sing and speak. Instruments: Saxophone Clarinet
I like to start by asking about a student about their prior experience (if any), interests and goals on their instrument. With my students, I generally start by tackling basics like healthy breathing and posture, producing good tone, note-reading, and rhythm. Depending on students interests, we may then gradually incorporate more advanced techniques such as playing by ear, learning longer, more complex classical or jazz pieces, music theory, and improvisation.
