I began teaching lessons several years ago, and have continued to teach in various forms. Currently my primary teaching role is that of Choir Director, where I teach group members how to read rhythms correctly, follow melodic phrasing and even learn the names of the notes. In addition to teaching in the public schools, Mr. Jesse W. has been playing guitar and bass professionally in the local funk band Tha Funkahol-x, and has performed for audiences with George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars. In undergraduate school, he studied composition and arrangement with Ricky Ford, internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist, at Brandeis, and performed in the Brandeis Jazz Ensemble under his direction. With more advanced students, we will evaluate their tastes and experience to determine the best music for study. The Bach Cello suites are a life long endeavor for many bassists, and the major concertos and sonatas are a way for the motivated bassist to attain performance opportunities.
