My teaching experience started in the YMCA, my church worship band, with friends and friend's kids and evolved into private lessons with friends of friends via word of mouth. I have taught over 50 students in 10 years. All great students but I know 12 who have gone on to play music professionally in solo work, bands, movies and TV. I have performed Folk, Mariachi, Gospel, Christian, Electronica and Classical music all over the country in bands and in my own solo work. Read More

My studio exists to help the everyday singer or the gifted vocalist with aspirations of a music career. Many people wish to sing better but never do anything about it. People often try to imitate established singers, hoping to produce the 'sound' that these others have accomplished. In my studio, each studentwill know the excitement of discovering his or her uniquely beautiful sound. Learning to sing better should always be an uplifting, activity, thoughmy 'kids', regardless ofage. In order tosing with ease and freedom, a singer must feel free to explore. My lessons encourage personal freedom so that learning can take place. I adapt to all learning styles and necessary modifications/accommodations they might have in a classroom. I encourage all students to explore and discover their own learning styles and I never use shame or comparison as a motivator. My lessons are always fun and upbeat, with lots of healthy celebration of progress! My students have a practice requirement to pass of any given song, depending on their piece and their level of playing. Read More

When a good teacher finds a good student, they inspire each other. If you want to learn how to sing in the shower a little better, that's fine, and I might help you do that; but if you feel impelled to use your voice to issue forth song in a more profound way, you have to begin with a deep-down feeling, and one that you can project from your body (and soul) up through your throat and out of your mouth. I have been teaching Orchestra with Albuquerque Public Schools for over 30 years and have been at Jimmy Carter Middle School for 20 years. Before that, I taught Orchestra at Grant and Kennedy Middle School. I do truly enjoy teaching all ages even though most of my experience is with Middle School children. Many of my students continue taking lessons with me through their years in High School. It's never to late to begin playing an instrument, so I encourage older students to try it too! Read More

As professional musician, I've been taught trough classical theory training, but as jazz major I also know a lot about jazz theory which gave me both approaches to teaching in the most efficient and comfortable way that the student ask me to, ( not everybody learns in the same way for sure). I'm also excited about learning from my students because it is something that I do like and appreciate a lot. Read More
