As an educator, I strive to provide my students with the tools that they will need to explore the direction that they want to take with their instrument. This can include from enjoying drumming as a hobby, performing in small jazz ensembles, recording electronic and acoustic drums in major recording studios, to performing with a full orchestra! The listening skills are important because if the student enjoys what (s)he is hearing, (s)he will be more motivated to practice. My method involves a two part approach - one is to teach proficiency with basics (reading and playing music). The other is to learn what music is, and how to keep yourself interested, progressing and that is by creating, modifying, improvising and composing. I am a passionate teacher and performing who is primarily focussed in opera, but well versed in all vocal styles. I currently teach voice at Queens College as well as maintaining a private studio in Brooklyn. I have been performing for 14+ years professionally since graduating with my Bachelor's degree in 2007. Since then I have also been teaching for 6+ years both privately and at accredited colleges and universities such at Luther College (alumni lecturer in voice) and the University of Oklahoma (graduate assistant). I began studying music at age 10.  By twelve years old I began serious study and practice on the piano.  By 15 I was playing weekly church services on both organ and piano.  I attended both Rutgers College and Berklee School of Music in Boston, where I continued my studies in piano, jazz composition and arranging, voice and performance.
