Other than what would be the general consensus of the standard cello repertoire, and a couple of technique books which I find to be incredibly useful with one area of pedagogy or another, I do not follow any of the current methods widely available to string players. It is my firm belief that it is the job of the teacher to be both adequately well versed and acutely attentive to each individual students' strengths, flaws, and the overall nuances of their playing style to be able to recommend appropriate literature, exercises, and music that is best suited for the student. Though I have been teaching for over two decade years, I am far from feeling like a burn-out.  In fact, the more I teach, the more intrigued I become with the learning process, and I am constantly re-tooling my approach in order to help my students learn more effectively. I really like using the Piano Adventures method for piano. However, I have used several method books for piano, guitar, and bass students before. Sometimes I do not require any books. It all depends on the student. I try to make a very personalized schedule per student.
