For beginning students, I vary my teaching methods quite a bit. I often take on students in households that already have method books purchased, and I have never had an issue with using them. At times, more books are needed, but I will allow the student to utilize these already-owned options, as I myself will supplement extra music. Students will often mentally understand what they need to do, but the necessary motor skills take time and repetition to achieve their goals. Read More

I am a passionate and motivated teaching artist who enjoys working with children and adults. I graduated with a Bachelor's in Music at Loyola University New Orleans in the fall of 2017. Performing chamber music, playing in Orchestra, and special events for weddings and corporate events have been an exciting part of my life as a musician. I've had the opportunity to perform for the Emmerson string Quartet, Degas String Quartet, and have been a part of many premieres such as an Opera Premiere entitled " The lions of reconstruction", and welcomed and played for the first lady of Haiti! I understand that as a teacher, my job is to not just teach the instrument or a song, but to inspire a deep, passionate love for music. The teachers that had the biggest impact on me and that I enjoyed the most were the ones who cared the most about my relationship to the music I was playing. Because of this, I make sure the student is always engaged in what they are playing and are enjoying it. Read More

I started teaching guitar and bass in 2001. I started teaching ukulele in 2013. Over the years, I have taught professionally at schools, park districts and music stores- in most cases becoming the top teacher (meaning, I was the most requested and had the best enrollment longevity). When I realized my ability to teach and how perfect it felt for me, I never looked back. In 2006, I opened a music venue/recording studio that was open to all ages- closing 9 years later in 2015. First of all, I love the Classical Guitar. I believe it to be one of the most (if not the most) expressive instruments in classical music. I’ve had this intense love with the instrument since high school. Sharing my passion for the instrument and its music has been one of my dreams since I began playing. Currently, I’m working on finishing my Bachelor’s degree in Classical Guitar Performance at UNO under Dr.Jay Kacherski. Read More

I strongly believe in a flexible manner of instruction, depending on the student’s particular characteristics and musical temperament. Thus, my approach to teaching is different for each student. Some students possess a more “mechanical” way of thinking, and are not naturally comfortable expressing themselves in public. Others are more “artistic” and intuitive and do not possess the knowledge, organization and patience to overcome technical issues. Whether students are more “intuitive” or more “intellectual,” there is a common issue that many face: tension. Read More

My teaching style is student-driven. I want to know what you are setting out to accomplish with your instrument of choice so I can help you to achieve your goals. There are many techniques I know that will help you to master basic skills on your instrument as well as the more individualized skills you will need to excel in your particular style of music. I can't wait to hear about what excites YOU most about music so I can help you to become the kind of musician you want to be. I do expect students to practice between lessons. Read More
