For younger students I employ the Suzuki Method which comprises a series of books and particular approach to teaching that I've found to be quite effective. The books provide a very well thought out sequence of pieces that help the student learn all of the necessary skills to play the guitar in the context of actual music rather than abstract exercises, and the method encourages a lot of parental involvement which helps to make at home practice (the most important part of learning any instrument) much more effective. My teaching experience dates back to my bedroom, as I began teaching myself the art of guitar by ear. Years later when I received my degree in music. I started on my path of teaching. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I typically use the Suzuki method violin books, but I can also work with Strictly Strings and Essential Elements. I typically pair the books with exercises of my own invention meant to isolate the technique at hand for that lesson. We will integrate reading the music with the physical connection on the instrument. Read More

For beginning students, I usually start with the Rubank Elementary Method. Having established the fundamentals, I like to introduce the student to a series of etudes and more challenging repertoire as the student develops. For adult students, I like to find out what they are intersted in and work from there, but I still stress fundamentals. Read More

I started teaching a year ago with mainly students who were beginners or advanced beginners! It was definitely a challenge at first due to the fact I was never taught how to teach. So I did my research and found different strategies on how to teach and after that it became very simple! As time went on, I discovered that my approach was very aggressive and unclear! Especially with the very young ones. Read More

My teaching style is one of stern motivation. I expect that each student will take the personal pride to prepare for each lesson by practicing the required amount and the assigned music. I can expect this because despite having a full-time job, I still find the time to practice and prepare for all of my lessons and performances. I also want my students to be successful and be proud of the performances that they are a part of. Read More
