I tend to work with students on a one-on-one basis. I start by showing the student how to get a sound out of their instrument, and then I lead a student through their first scales. I almost always play the piece or scale first, as I have found learning to read music is far easier to learn when the student already has an idea how the music should sound before they try to play the piece. Currently I conduct after school music programs at the University of Memphis Campus School, CTK Lutheran School in Memphis, and Incarnation Catholic School in Collierville.
