As a performer, I was one of the winners of the 2009 SJSU French Music Competition, and one of the finalists of the 2013 BGSU Art Song Competition. In 2012-13, I served as the accompanist of the BGSU Men's Chorus, in which I've had the opportunity to participate in the performnace tour twice through 6 states along the East Coast. For advanced students, I will focus on teaching them to interpret a piece rather than copying from others. I teach beginner students simple and fundamental music pieces to let them learn the basic keys and how to read the music sheet. I like to instruct students from diverse experiences the piano, and how to use the instrument as a means of self expression and stimulate their music talent. For my young piano students, I use the structure of the Faber series to slowly introduce concepts. For my guitar students I have had great success with the Mel Bay series, which combines initial chord playing and some music reading fundamentals. For ukulele, I utilize the Hal Leonard service.
