Instruments: Voice
Depending on the student's age and wishes, the lesson will be a playful voice exploration or knowledge-sharing instructions. For all my students, I use physiologically based training methods, when it comes to voice technique. After some time, I know your voice better to lead you to a legit yet powerful sound or work with you on genre-specific details. I implement improvising games into my lessons, as they let my students play with their musical ideas and make use of their creativity. Read More

MUSIC SHOULD BE FUN. I have been a private piano teacher for over 15 years, and thoroughly enjoy teaching my students. I love playing the piano and try to instill that love in my students by making lessons fun and stress-free. I start with the basics, then incorporate each student's likes and strengths into their lesson. I truly believe that the best way to learn playing piano is to ENJOY it! Read More

There are many method books available, one that I have used is "Piano Adventures" by Nancy and Randall Faber. There are many series of books now available with varied styles of music from beginning to intermediate levels such as those by Martha Mier, Robert Vandall and Christopher. Very young students and sometimes even those who are older have difficulty understanding musical notation and it is useful to teach them by rote while also improving reading skills. Read More
Instruments: Voice
My teaching style is based around health-promoting vocal exercises and exploration which serve to build the voice in all areas. Increased strength and flexibility in the voice work for us in any style and ultimately give us the freedom to express ourselves with greater ease. I strive for wellness in the voice and does not push people to sing in ways that create pain or stress. I am patient in working through any particular issues such as intonation, ear training, releasing tension, and breathing. Read More

Depending on the level of the student, I will access what the most valuble method books or resources will be to work out of in order to increase success! Read More

Currently, my teaching experience involves substituting for a drum class in one of the New York City boroughs, and assisting musicians or other campers when needed at Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts when I worked there as a Music Staff Intern. I have worked with multiple teachers throughout my musical journey and experience, and I have since picked up the teaching styles and methods that they taught me. I now want to use my experience and what I have learned to help other students or aspiring musicians, and help show them how fun and enjoyable playing their respective instrument or instruments can be. My favorite piano method book for children is the Bastien Piano Basics Series. Alternately, I sometimes use the Faber & Faber Piano Adventures. For very young children (3-6) "My First Piano Adventure," a Faber publication, is my book of choice. For adults, I usually use Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course, though sometimes I skip method books and play pieces picked by the student. When teaching drums/percussion, my method books of choice are Standard of Excellence and Winning Rhythms. Read More
