I'm very passionate about music and sharing the knowledge I know to students. I was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and started playing the drums when I was 8. I started out playing rock/pop and then slowly went into jazz. Now I am interested in playing a wide array of genres. I graduated from the Manhattan School of Music with a Bachelor's in Jazz Performance. I first began teaching while attending Berklee. I would substitute teach for upper classmen in local music schools in the Boston area. After Berklee I taught full time for one year at a local music store. While attending MSM I taught group classes in New York City middle schools on Clarinet and Flute. After MSM I started my full time teaching studio where I was on faculty at 3 schools in the Westchester area. Read More

I started teaching private voice students, choir classes, piano and Music theory. I enjoy helping my students explore all music genres including classical, folk, pop, jazz, rock and RB. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons 25 years ago. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. For about 5 years I taught at a program called "Be Natural Music" where all of the students were children and teens. We put together kid rock bands and had them play shows a few times a year at local venues and festivals. I was the resident drum teacher for that program until my very recent move to New York. In my time there I helped the program expand into a new bigger store front and almost doubled their clientele. Read More
